Big
Water & Associates began as a
consulting firm for small to medium
sized businesses. Our focus then was
back office integration and we specialized
in small networks using Point of Sale
software and custom databases. In
the mid 90's, we took that expertise
and began moving some of our existing
and new client's businesses onto the
Internet. We felt that we were uniquely
qualified to help businesses with
back office database integration,
dynamically generated web sites and
online storefronts.
Over
the past few years, we have learned
that our clients need to be more than
"just another pretty site"
to be successful using the Internet.
That too often there are two elements
left out of the equation when establishing
a web site; Usability and Marketing.
Usability
We have all seen them. Those beautiful
web sites that take forever to load
and once they have, you simply can't
locate anything you are looking
for. Or how about the web site that
is supposed to be a store, but you
can't find how to order and then
checkout. Usability is many things,
but simply defined, it is a web
site's ability to provide the visitor
with an easy, direct means of locating
what they are looking for and accomplishing
their tasks.
Marketing
Back in the late 90's we were all
lulled into the belief that if we
chose the right domain name, built
a beautiful web site and posted
it on the Internet, that we would
be inundated with requests and orders.
The "if you build it, they
will come" marketing strategy
really only works in the movies.
Just as any business needs to market
itself through various media, so
to must a web site. Web site marketing
involves the careful use of conventional
media such as print ads and direct
mailings as well as properly placed
web marketing strategies such as
search engines, banner ads, news
groups, direct email and cross promotional
links.
If
you are looking to put your business
on the Internet, or have an existing
site that is not performing as you
would like, let us meet with you to
talk about where you are and where
you would like to go.
We
are so confident that we can add value
